Bithumb Exchange (self)Hacked?
The sixth crypto exchange in the world and the largest trading platform in South Korea reported a cyber attack. Hackers withdraw more than $30 million from the exchange. For now, all deposit and withdrawal operations on Bithumb are suspended. The exchange reported the security breach June 19th in its Twitter account. The amount stolen equals 10% of the daily traded value on the exchange.
In the statement made in Twitter, Bithumb obliged itself to compensate the stolen assets to its users, but later the tweet was removed.
The employees of Sentinel Protocol reported that hot storage wallets were compromised and large number of Ripple (XRP) crypto was stolen.
It is worth to note that two weeks before the Tax Bureau of South Korea invoiced Bithumb for $28 million. The famous crypto blogger and trader Whalepanda noticed that:
