Samsung Accepts Cryptocurrencies in Baltic Countries
Users of CopPay in Tallinn, Riga, Vilnius and Kaunas can pay in cryptocurrency for smartphones, tablets, laptops and other Samsung products. The South Korean giant will accept payments in Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Ripple, Dash, NEM and Steem.
Three stores accept crypto in the Lithuanian capital – Vilnius, and one store in every other city – Tallinn, Riga, Kaunas. Several Portuguese stores are listed on CopPay as well. The press release says that it will be possible to pay in the online store as well.
Samsung is interested in the blockchain industry for long time. In January the company began manufacturing chips for ASIC miners. That time Samsung representatives stated about expecting high revenues against the backdrop of high demand on the crypto market. In the first quarter of 2018 the company increased their profit by 58% comparing to the indicators of the previous year.
In Spring it got about that Samsung launches a blockchain platform for delivery management and tracking in its global network. In April a Samsung representative stated in the interview that the technology reduced their delivery costs by 20%.
This month Samsung announced their plans to invest in Ledger.
